Josh Bowman is a Christian and a member of the Anglican Church in North America; specifically, All Saints Anglican Church in Holland, MI where he now serves as the part-time Director of Operations. Though born and raised in Monroe, Michigan, he and his wife met at Lee University in Tennessee. They currently live in Western Michigan with two young children and their dog. Josh is also the Vice President of the Ciceronian Society
Prior to his position at All Saints, Josh was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Hope College, teaching courses in political theory and American politics (2022-23). From 2018-2022, Josh was an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH where he taught courses in political philosophy, American politics, environmental politics, and law. Prior to that, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Eric Voegelin Institute of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge (2016-2018). While at LSU, Josh taught courses on the American Presidency and a special topics course entitled, “Art, Imagination and Politics.” He completed his MA/PhD in Politics at the Catholic University of America (2016) in Washington, DC and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Lee University (2008) in Cleveland, TN.
Josh’s scholarly research focuses on the history of political philosophy and the intersection of religion and imagination with politics and thought, especially as it pertains to environmental politics. His first book, Imagination and Environmental Politics: the Aftermath of Thoreau was published in 2018 by Lexington Books in their Politics, Literature, and Film series, edited by Lee Trepanier.

In addition to teaching and writing, Josh is the former Communications Director for Christians in Political Science and previously served as the managing editor of the peer-reviewed journal, ANAMNESIS.
When “spare time” can be found, he enjoys just being with his family as well as hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He is an avid reader of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, a connoisseur of chocolate chip cookies, and an unapologetic bibliophile.
